  • Overview

    The Manager, Software Testing is responsible for the effective management of the members of their assigned Software testing team including allocation of resources and management of projects currently being tested.  They are also responsible for encouraging career development within the team and ensuring the quality of the software produced by the Development Department.


    1. To effectively directly and managing the members of the Software Test team in respect of personnel matters including career development
    2. To ensure the workload of the team is effectively planned and managed to ensure timely completion of the desired departmental goals and objectives through delegation and support as needed adhering to the companies quality standards and procedures
    3. To plan, design and execute manual and automated software tests, as appropriate.
    4. To develop and maintain supporting documentation
    5. To log, track and manage software issues and defects detected during testing
    6. To provide advice and guidance to others, including internal customers and team members on software testing
    7. To contribute to the development of the software testing process
    8. To ensure the Software Team adhere to Quality and Regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, those for MHRA and FDA Regulatory bodies
    9. To maintain a broad understanding of practices and developments in the Computing, Regulatory, Pharmaceutical and Health Care industries
    10. To proactively contribute to the evolution of existing and new Standard Operating Procedures
    11. To undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management and development of the team to ensure their performance meets and or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals / objectives
    12. To participate in the formal employee review processes, e.g. performance and salary reviews, to Company standards and within defined timescales
    13. To promote and maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork
    14. To cultivate a climate of continuous learning, identifying and implementing ways to improve productivity and quality of ERT’s processes and services
    15. The position may involve other duties appropriate to the role




    1. In-depth knowledge of software validation and verification techniques and strategies
    2. Knowledge, gained through hands-on experience, of one or more enterprise level test automation tools (e.g. Selenium)
    3. Knowledge of software development languages and tools preferred
    4. Knowledge of relational databases
    5. Experience in a 21 CFR Part 11 FDA regulated environment desirable
    6. HIPAA regulated environment desirable
    7. Computer literate and proficient in MS office suite of programs
    8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    9. Client focused approach, utilizing knowledge and experience, demonstrating outstanding levels of diplomacy and tact
    10. Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, prioritize effectively, assess and manage risk
    11. A flexible attitude and able to thrive in a high-pressure environment
    12. Willingness to work in a matrix environment and values the importance of teamwork
    13. Clear understanding of the ‘drug development’ processes specifically relating to clinical trial execution and application of technology to support study workflow
    14. Able to problem solve effectively and generate innovative ideas, in turn translating them into practical solutions


    1. Have a computing related degree or a highly developed level of technical ability


    1. Experience in a 21 CFR Part 11 FDA regulated environment desirable
    2. In-depth, ‘hands on’ software testing experience, including test case development, execution, and automation
